Chinoiserie Wall Murals

Chinoiserie wall murals follow the hand-painted panoramic papers of the eighteenth century. Ours are printed to the exact size of your wall.

Choosing a chinoiserie wall mural

Chinoiserie is the European taste, born in the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries, for scenes inspired by Chinese painting and porcelain: garden pavilions, winding paths, flowering branches, cranes and exotic birds. Traditional chinoiserie papers were painted as one continuous panorama around a room, which is exactly how a made-to-measure mural is printed.

Colourways. The collection runs from sage, linen and ink to damson and midnight. Pale grounds suit a bedroom or a drawing room; dark grounds make a dining room or a powder room feel rich and intimate.

One wall or all four. A single chinoiserie wall behind a bed or a sideboard is the simplest start. Wrapping a small room creates the panoramic effect of a period interior.
