How to measure a wall for a mural

Width, at the widest point
Measure along the skirting and again near the ceiling. Keep the larger number. Old houses lean, new ones too.

Height, at the tallest point
Measure floor to ceiling on the left, the centre and the right. Keep the tallest. Ignore the skirting board only if the mural stops above it.

Doors and windows stay in
Measure the full wall as one rectangle, openings included. The image runs across the whole wall and you trim around frames once it is up.

Keep the margin
The extra we suggest gives you room to align the first panel perfectly plumb. It is trimmed with a sharp knife at the end.

Calculator questions
How do I calculate how much wallpaper I need?
Multiply the width of the wall by its height, wall by wall, and add the results. That is the surface to cover. The calculator above does it for you in inches or centimetres. With a made to measure mural you order that surface directly, there are no rolls to count.
Should I subtract doors and windows?
No. A mural is one continuous image printed at the size of the whole wall. Measure the wall as a full rectangle, openings included, then trim around the frames once the panels are up. Subtracting them would leave you with an image that is too small.
How much extra should I add to my measurements?
We suggest 4 inches (10 cm) on both the width and the height. Walls, ceilings and floors are rarely perfectly straight, and that margin lets you hang the first panel perfectly vertical. The excess is trimmed with a sharp knife at the end.
How wide are the panels?
Every mural is printed in panels 30 inches (76 cm) wide. They arrive numbered and rolled in hanging order. You hang them from left to right, edge to edge, never overlapping. The full method is in our installation guide.
Is my wall really remembered?
Yes. Your measurements are kept in your own browser, not on our servers. Every mural in the shop then shows the price for your wall, and the product page opens with your width and height already filled in. Enter new measurements at any time to replace them.
How many rolls of wallpaper is that?
A standard roll covers about 5.3 m² (57 sq ft), and with a repeating pattern you should plan for roughly one tenth lost to matching. A Casavono mural works differently: it is printed to the exact size of your wall in numbered panels, so there are no rolls to count and nothing is wasted.
Can I cover more than one wall?
Yes. Add each wall to the calculator to see the total. When you order, each wall is its own mural with its own measurements, so every image is framed properly for the wall it goes on.
